Fozivudine tidoxil is an orally active HIV inhibitor designed as a thioether lipid-zidovudine (ZDV) conjugate. This compound exhibits potent anti-HIV activity by incorporating into the newly synthesized DNA strand during viral replication, leading to irreversible binding to viral reverse transcriptase and disruption of the reverse transcription process.
