Fosamprenavir sodium

Fosamprenavir sodium is an orally active inhibitor targeting HIV-1 protease and functions as a prodrug for Amprenavir. Upon administration, it is hydrolyzed by cell phosphatases in the intestinal epithelium to release Amprenavir, which inhibits HIV-1 protease by binding to its active site. This binding prevents the processing of viral gag and gag-pol polyprotein precursors, thereby inhibiting the maturation of infectious virus particles.
