Furin-IN-3 is a potent and selective inhibitor of the proprotein convertase furin, exhibiting a Ki of 12.4 nM. Additionally, it demonstrates a Ki of 278 nM for PC7. This compound has been shown to exert significant antiviral activity against the furin-dependent H7N7 influenza A virus strain SC35M by inhibiting the cleavage and activation of the viral hemagglutinin (HA), thereby preventing viral membrane fusion with host cells and inhibiting viral replication.
