Thiacloprid is an orally active neurotoxic insecticide that functions as an agonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). It has been shown to reduce cellular viability, deplete reduced glutathione, and elevate malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, leading to cytotoxicity and oxidative stress.
