Methyl-L-NIO hydrochloride is a selective inhibitor of dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase (DDAH), exhibiting an IC50 value of 70 μM. This compound also demonstrates inhibitory effects on nitric oxide synthase (NOS) isoforms, with inhibition rates at 100 μM of 77% for neuronal NOS (nNOS), 20% for endothelial NOS (eNOS), and 72% for inducible NOS (iNOS). At a concentration of 1 mM, Methyl-L-NIO achieves 100% inhibition of both nNOS and iNOS, and 85% inhibition of eNOS.
