What is the mechanism of action of LY294002?

LY294002 inhibits PI3K by competing with ATP at the catalytic site of the p110 subunit. This prevents the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) into phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3), thereby blocking AKT pathway activation.
