Lamivudine triphosphate is a potent reverse transcriptase inhibitor that serves as a phosphorylated form of the nucleoside analogue Lamivudine. It effectively disrupts the replication of HIV and HBV viruses through chain termination. Additionally, Lamivudine triphosphate inhibits the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) activity of the NS5B subunit in hepatitis C virus, and can be incorporated into nascent RNA by the SARS-CoV-2 RdRp, thereby preventing mutations in the SARS-CoV-2 RNA.
