NIP-142 is a benzopyran derivative that functions as a potassium, calcium, and sodium channel blocker. It selectively inhibits potassium channels abundant in atrial muscle, leading to an increase in the effective refractory period (ERP) and action potential duration (APD) in the atrium, while sparing ventricular repolarization. Additionally, NIP-142 dampens L-type and T-type calcium channels and sodium channels, enhancing its anti-arrhythmic properties.
