Ibandronate Sodium

Catalog No.: A31471
FPP synthase Inhibitor
Ibandronate Sodium is a specific inhibitor of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPP synthase), functioning primarily through the inhibition of the mevalonate pathway. This compound effectively disrupts isoprenylation of small GTPases, including RAS and RHO family proteins, leading to tumor cell apoptosis and decreased bone resorption. Ibandronate Sodium has demonstrated the ability to hinder ER+ breast cancer cell proliferation, increase expression of the pro-apoptotic gene FAS, and exhibit synergistic anti-tumor effects with anti-estrogen agents. Its applications extend to investigating osteoporosis and the mechanisms underlying bone metastasis in tumors, particularly those involving breast cancer.
