1-Palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-sn-glycerol

Hormogonium-inducing Factor

1-Palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-sn-glycerol is a diacylglycerol signaling molecule that acts as a hormogonium-inducing factor (HIF) derived from the coralloid roots of Cycas revoluta. This compound effectively induces the differentiation of filamentous aggregates of Nostoc into motile hormogonia at a concentration of 1 nmol/disc, facilitating chemotaxis towards host roots and promoting symbiotic relationships. Its role in plant–microbe interactions and rhizosphere signaling pathways positions it as a valuable reagent for research into nitrogen-fixing symbiosis.
