12,14-Dichlorodehydroabietic acid

BK Channel Opener

12,14-Dichlorodehydroabietic acid is a potent opener of large-conductance calcium-activated potassium (BK) channels. This chlorinated resin acid functions as a non-competitive antagonist of GABAA receptors, effectively blocking GABA-dependent chloride entry in mammalian brain tissue. Additionally, 12,14-Dichlorodehydroabietic acid promotes an increase in cytosolic free calcium levels, thereby stimulating neurotransmitter release, making it valuable for research in neurophysiology and cell signaling pathways.
