16-Epiestriol

UGT Inhibitor

16-Epiestriol is a natural stereoisomer of estriol that functions as a UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) inhibitor. It exhibits key biological activity by attenuating phase II inflammatory processes, notably reducing edema associated with prostaglandin and leukocyte infiltration. With Ki values of 98.1 μM against human UGT1A10 and 162 μM against UGT2B7, 16-Epiestriol is a relevant glucuronidation substrate, primarily modified at the 16-OH and 17-OH sites in liver microsomes. This compound is significant in the study of inflammatory diseases, offering potential insights into therapeutic approaches without impacting glycogenic activity or blood glucose levels.
