16a-Hydroxydehydroisoandrosterone

Cytochrome P450

16α-Hydroxydehydroisoandrosterone is a metabolite of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) that acts primarily through the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. This compound is generated via 16-hydroxylation by CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 in adult human liver microsomes, and also by fetal recombinant CYP3A7. It serves as a precursor to fetal estrogens, including estriol, making it valuable for research into steroid hormone metabolism and related physiological processes.
