18-Crown-6-ether

Dissociator

18-Crown-6-ether is a crown ether compound that serves as a specific dissociation agent, primarily targeting the competition for potassium ions in G-quadruplex structures. This compound disrupts the stability of G-quadruplexes, influencing various biological functions. Additionally, 18-Crown-6-ether can transport potassium and other metal ions across membranes with precision. It is also recognized for its role as a susceptibility substrate for the EmrE multi-drug efflux pump, thereby inhibiting bacterial growth. Its applications extend to microcapsule controlled release and the development of antibacterial enhancers.
