18-Hydroxy-11-deoxy corticosterone

Mineralocorticoid

18-Hydroxy-11-deoxy corticosterone (18-OH-DOC) is a mineralocorticoid involved in the regulation of blood pressure and water-salt homeostasis. It functions as an intermediate in progesterone metabolism and is influenced by adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and angiotensin II. Research indicates that continuous infusion of 18-OH-DOC can elevate systolic blood pressure in rat models, and its plasma concentrations are notably increased in the db/db mouse model of type 2 diabetes. This suggests a possible role in metabolic dysregulation, making 18-OH-DOC relevant for studies in hypertension, diabetes, and related metabolic disorders.
