2-(Aminomethyl)phenol

Antioxidant

2-(Aminomethyl)phenol is a selective dicarbonyl scavenger that functions primarily as an antioxidant. It effectively scavenges free radicals and isolevuglandins (IsoLGs), playing a significant role in reducing inflammation and preventing early recurrence of atrial fibrillation. Additionally, this compound has been shown to promote efferocytosis and stabilize plaques while lowering malondialdehyde (MDA)-LDL and MDA-HDL levels in Ldlr-/- mouse models. Its utility makes it relevant for research in inflammation and cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis and arrhythmias.
