2-Methoxyidazoxan monohydrochloride

Alpha 2-Adrenoceptor Antagonist

2-Methoxyidazoxan monohydrochloride acts as a highly selective alpha 2-adrenoceptor antagonist, exhibiting minimal imidazoline antagonist activity. This compound demonstrates a significantly higher affinity for alpha 2D-adrenoceptors in guinea pigs (pKd 9.7) compared to alpha 2A-adrenoceptors in rabbits (pKd 8.2). 2-Methoxyidazoxan monohydrochloride is utilized in research applications to investigate the physiological roles of alpha 2-adrenoceptors and to explore potential therapeutic strategies targeting adrenergic signaling pathways.
