2-Methyl-5-acetylphenol

HIPK2 Binder

2-Methyl-5-acetylphenol is a hydroxylated methylacetophenone with a demonstrated binding affinity to the homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 2 (HIPK2). This compound is primarily derived from the aerial parts of Cannabis sativa subsp. sativa and serves as a valuable tool in Parkinson’s disease research. While it exhibits significant HIPK2 interaction, it does not reverse MPP+-induced neuronal cytotoxicity, making it a relevant candidate for studying neuroprotective strategies in Parkinson's pathology.
