3-AP-Me

3-AP Derivatives

3-AP-Me is a dimethyl derivative of 3-aminophenyl (3-AP) that acts as an inhibitor of ribonucleotide reductase. This compound activates the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress pathway by facilitating the phosphorylation of eIF2α and enhancing the expression of ATF4 and ATF6 transcription factors, ultimately promoting apoptosis in cells. Furthermore, 3-AP-Me activates stress kinases, including c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases, and induces the upregulation of the spliced mRNA variant XBP1, making it a valuable tool in cancer research.
