3-Butynoic acid

Acyl CoA dehydrogenase Inhibitor

3-Butynoic acid is a potent inhibitor of acyl CoA dehydrogenase, a key enzyme in fatty acid metabolism. Its alkyne functional group enables its use as a click chemistry reagent, facilitating copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with azide-containing molecules. Additionally, 3-Butynoic acid has been shown to reduce the formation of propionate and acrylic acid in a concentration-dependent manner, making it valuable for research in metabolic and biochemical studies.
