3-Ethyltoluene

Ethyltoluenes Isomer

3-Ethyltoluene (3-Methylethylbenzene) is an isomer of ethyltoluenes that primarily targets cellular pathways involved in survival and proliferation. This compound has been shown to inhibit cell growth while inducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and upregulating inflammatory gene expression. Additionally, 3-Ethyltoluene promotes fibrosis in cells, leading to increased levels of liver-associated biomarkers, including AST, FGF-23, Cyt-7 p21, TGFβ, TIMP2, and MMP2. It is particularly relevant for research into liver diseases, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
