4-Nitrophenyl palmitate

Lipase/Esterase Substrate

4-Nitrophenyl palmitate serves as a chromogenic substrate specifically for lipases and esterases. Upon enzymatic hydrolysis, it releases p-nitrophenol, enabling quantification of enzymatic activity through colorimetric detection at 410 nm. This reagent is instrumental in characterizing the activity of lipolytic enzymes from diverse sources, such as bacterial strains and mammalian tissues, including Burkholderia and porcine pancreatic lipase.
