Absorption Enhancer
5-CNAC functions as an absorption enhancer by increasing the bioavailability of peptide drugs without exhibiting pharmacological activity on its own. It improves the absorption efficiency of agents such as Salmon calcitonin by binding reversibly and non-covalently to these peptides, protecting them from gastrointestinal degradation while enhancing their lipid solubility. This mechanism aids in promoting passive transcellular absorption while maintaining the integrity of the intestinal epithelium. 5-CNAC is valuable for research involving adjuvants in the oral administration of peptide therapeutics.
