5-Octyl-α-ketoglutarate
Demethylase Substrate
5-Octyl-α-ketoglutarate is a cell-permeable substrate specifically designed for lysine demethylases. It plays a critical role in the process of protein demethylation and has shown to inhibit cell proliferation in wild-type CRBN-expressing cells. Additionally, it enhances the sensitivity of these cells to Lenalidomide while also reducing the drug resistance typically observed in multiple myeloma. Through the promotion of glutamine catabolism, 5-Octyl-α-ketoglutarate facilitates α-ketoglutarate-driven protein demethylation in myeloma cells undergoing glutamine-dependent proliferation.
