6-Phosphoglucono-δ-lactone

G6PD Reversal Substrate

6-Phosphoglucono-δ-lactone acts as a reversal substrate for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). This compound serves as an intermediate in the oxidative branch of the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP), generated from D-glucose-6-phosphate by G6PDH and subsequently converted to 6-phosphoglutonate by lactonase. 6-Phosphoglucono-δ-lactone is valuable in research focused on heart failure, type 2 diabetes, and various cancer studies.
