6PPD-Q (6PPD-Quinone)

CNR2 Receptor Agonist

6PPD-Q (6PPD-Quinone) is an environmental pollutant ubiquitously detected in various ecosystems and in human biological samples such as urine. It exhibits strong binding affinity toward multiple molecular targets, including CNR2, CNR1, AA2AR, LCAT, and TRPA1, with the highest affinity observed for CNR2, suggesting its potential role as a CNR2 receptor agonist that activates cannabinoid signaling. Mechanistically, 6PPD-Q disrupts mitochondrial function, impairs neuronal energy metabolism by reducing glycolytic and TCA cycle intermediates, and promotes α-synuclein (α-syn) aggregation. These effects contribute to intestinal inflammation and epithelial barrier dysfunction. 6PPD-Q serves as a valuable research compound for studies in environmental toxicology, neurodegeneration, and inflammation-related pathophysiology.
