7-Methylcoumarin

Coumarin

7-Methylcoumarin is a coumarin derivative that functions as a mechanism-based inhibitor of CYP2A6. It exhibits significant hepatoprotective and antioxidant activities, effectively reducing serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and total bilirubin in rat models of CCl4-induced liver injury. Additionally, 7-Methylcoumarin restores serum levels of total protein and albumin while mitigating oxidative stress. This compound also demonstrates the ability to decrease mitotic activity in A. sativum promeristem, making it valuable for various biological research applications.
