(±)8-HEPE
(±)8-HEPE is a product of the non-enzymatic oxidation of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), comprising equal ratios of (±)8-HEPE and 8(R)-HEPE. It has been shown to promote the hatching of eggs in the species E. modestus and B. balanoides, likely due to the biological activity of the 8(R) isomer. This compound serves as a valuable tool in research related to developmental biology and ecological studies.
