α-Copaene

Oviposition Promoter

α-Copaene is an oviposition promoter that serves as an effective attractant for male Mediterranean fruit flies (Ceratitis capitata). This compound is a minor component of various plant essential oils and has demonstrated antimicrobial activity, exhibiting a minimum inhibitory concentration of 0.5-1 μL/mL. Additionally, α-Copaene has been shown to inhibit biofilm formation by reducing the hydrophobicity of bacterial cell surfaces. It is applied in studies exploring pest management and the ecological roles of volatile compounds.
