α-Lipoic Acid Derivative 1 is an enhanced α-lipoic acid derivative designed to improve glucose transport in skeletal muscle through the release of active α-lipoic acid (LA). This compound demonstrates significant biological activity, exhibiting glucose transport rates in L6 skeletal muscle cells that are approximately 12 times more potent than those of its parent compound, α-lipoic acid. In a mild diabetic mouse model, administration of 10 mg/kg for two weeks led to a notable reduction in blood glucose levels by 39%. α-Lipoic Acid Derivative 1 is a valuable tool for research focusing on glucose metabolism and diabetes management.
