Acetate kinase (ACK)

Acetate Kinase

Acetate kinase (ACK) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of acetate to acetyl phosphate using ATP as a substrate, in the presence of divalent cations. This reaction plays a crucial role in acetate metabolism and the formation of acetyl-CoA, an important metabolic intermediate. ACK is frequently utilized in biochemical research to study acetate utilization pathways and to investigate energy metabolism in various microbial systems.
