Acetylethylcholine mustard hydrochloride

Choline Acetyl-transferase Inhibitor

Acetylethylcholine mustard hydrochloride serves as an irreversible inhibitor of choline acetyl-transferase, effectively diminishing the synthesis of acetylcholine (ACh) with an IC50 value of 1.22 mM. This compound reduces myotube contraction frequency, making it valuable for studies on neuromuscular transmission and cholinergic signaling. Additionally, Acetylethylcholine mustard hydrochloride acts as a cholinotoxin and is a precursor to the ethylcholine mustard aziridinium ion, further enhancing its utility in chemical research.
