Afegostat hydrochloride

Active Compound

Afegostat hydrochloride, a potent β-galactosidase inhibitor, primarily targets β-galactosidase to ameliorate conditions associated with GM1-gangliosidosis and Morquio B disease. This compound has been shown to induce the maturation of mutant β-galactosidase in fibroblasts derived from patients with GM1-gangliosidosis. Additionally, Afegostat hydrochloride promotes the reduction of keratin sulfate and oligosaccharide accumulation in patient cells, making it a valuable reagent for research into lysosomal storage disorders.
