Aldosterone

Mineralocorticoid Steroid

Aldosterone is a primary mineralocorticoid steroid hormone that regulates electrolyte balance and blood pressure. It is synthesized and secreted by the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex in response to renin-angiotensin system activation and elevated dietary potassium levels. Aldosterone exerts its biological effects through binding to and activating the cytoplasmic/nuclear mineralocorticoid receptor (MR), influencing processes such as sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion. This compound is essential for research in endocrine function, hypertension, and cardiovascular health studies.
