Allithiamine

Thiamin Derivative

Allithiamine is a thiamin derivative that exhibits absorption properties akin to fat-soluble vitamins. As a cofactor precursor for thiamin pyrophosphate (TPP), it plays a critical role in carbohydrate metabolism by enhancing the activity of the pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) complex, thereby promoting the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl CoA for entry into the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. Allithiamine is suitable for studies focused on thiamine metabolism and its implications in cellular energy production.
