Ambenoxan
Ambenoxan is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant that demonstrates efficacy across various animal models, including mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, and monkeys, while preserving the righting reflex. This compound significantly mitigates decerebrate rigidity in rabbits without exhibiting peripheral neuromuscular blocking effects. Additionally, ambenoxan enhances sleep duration in combination with hexobarbitone and lowers blood pressure in anesthetized cats, although it does not influence norepinephrine activity. Its unique properties make it a valuable tool for research into central nervous system function and muscle relaxation.
