Antitrypanosomal agent 26

TAO Inhibitor

Antitrypanosomal agent 26 is an allosteric inhibitor of trypanosome alternative oxidase (TAO). It demonstrates potent activity against African animal trypanosomes, including Trypanosoma brucei, with an IC50 value of 1.3 nM for recombinant TAO. By disrupting the mitochondrial electron transport chain, Antitrypanosomal agent 26 inhibits glucose-dependent respiration in trypanosomes. This compound is valuable for research into African animal trypanosomiasis, particularly bovine trypanosomiasis.
