Ap44mSe

Selenosemicarbazone

Ap44mSe is a selenosemicarbazone compound that targets cellular iron metabolism. It effectively depletes cellular iron levels, leading to the up-regulation of transferrin receptor-1, down-regulation of ferritin, and increased expression of the metastasis suppressor N-myc downstream regulated gene-1. Additionally, Ap44mSe forms redox-active copper complexes that target lysosomes, inducing lysosomal membrane permeabilization, which may have significant implications for cancer research and therapy.
