Avacincaptad pegol sodium
Anti-C5 RNA Aptamer
Avacincaptad pegol sodium is a 40 kDa PEG-conjugated RNA aptamer that targets complement factor 5 (C5). By inhibiting the cleavage of C5 into C5a and C5b, it effectively limits inflammatory stimulation and the formation of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC). This reagent is primarily utilized in the study of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and mitigates irregular cell apoptosis by selectively targeting downstream factors in the complement cascade while preserving initial complement system processes.
