Aviptadil
Vasodilator Agent
Aviptadil is an analog of vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) that primarily functions as a vasodilator. It exerts significant vasodilatory effects in the pulmonary vasculature and inhibits the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and platelet aggregation. Aviptadil is relevant for research applications involving pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and respiratory failure associated with SARS-CoV-2.
