AZM198

MPO Inhibitor

AZM198 is a potent myeloperoxidase (MPO) inhibitor that irreversibly inactivates the enzyme through covalent binding to its heme prosthetic group, exhibiting an IC50 of 0.015 μM. This compound effectively reduces neutrophil extracellular trap formation and reactive oxygen species production, making it a significant tool for research on MPO-related pathologies. AZM198 has been demonstrated to increase fibrous cap thickness in atherosclerotic plaques, decrease lesion area, and alleviate conditions associated with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and glomerulonephritis. Its ability to lower circulating levels of high-sensitivity Cardiac Troponin I and IL-1β further underscores its potential utility in studies of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, and ischemic stroke.
