AZT triphosphate

Antiretroviral Agent

AZT triphosphate (3'-Azido-3'-deoxythymidine-5'-triphosphate) targets viral DNA polymerases as an active triphosphate metabolite of Zidovudine (AZT). This compound demonstrates potent antiretroviral activity by inhibiting HIV replication and also exerts antiviral effects against hepatitis B virus (HBV) by inhibiting its DNA polymerase. Additionally, AZT triphosphate can activate the mitochondria-mediated apoptosis pathway, making it a valuable reagent for research in antiviral therapies and apoptosis mechanisms.
