Basimglurant sulfate is a selective negative allosteric modulator of metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5). With a Ki of 1.4 nM, it effectively inhibits mGlu5-mediated signaling and receptor constitutive activity, impacting dopamine regulation in the nucleus accumbens. This compound demonstrates anxiolytic, antidepressant-like, analgesic, and arousal-promoting effects, while also influencing δ-wave power during non-rapid eye movement sleep.
