Benzolamide
CA Inhibitor
Benzolamide is a potent inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase (CA), exhibiting inhibition constants (Ki) of 15 nM for human CA I, 9 nM for human CA II, 94 nM for EcoCAγ, and 78 nM for VchCAγ. Additionally, it inhibits CAS3 with a Ki of 54 nM. This compound is valuable in research focused on glaucoma and seizure disorders, providing insights into the role of carbonic anhydrase in these conditions.
