Benzophenone-13C is a stable isotope-labeled form of benzophenone, which acts as a photosensitizer by absorbing UV light and transferring energy to DNA, leading to DNA damage. This compound plays a role in various research applications, including studies of DNA interactions, toxicology, and the investigation of its metabolic pathways. Additionally, benzophenone is used in diverse industrial applications as a fragrance enhancer, ultraviolet curing agent, and additive in plastics, as well as in the synthesis of insecticides, agricultural chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
