beta-Galactose dehydrogenase

β-Galactose Dehydrogenase

Beta-Galactose Dehydrogenase is a selective enzyme that targets β-galactose, facilitating its oxidation in the presence of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) under alkaline conditions (pH 8.6). This enzymatic activity results in the production of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), enabling precise quantification of β-galactose. It is commonly utilized in research applications focused on lactose concentration analysis, including studies involving breast milk and other dairy products.
