Glucocorticoid Agonist
BI 653048 phosphate is a selective, orally active nonsteroidal glucocorticoid (GC) agonist, demonstrating an IC50 value of 55 nM. It acts by inhibiting the activity of various cytochrome P450 isoforms, including CYP1A2, CYP2D6, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, and CYP3A4, while exhibiting reduced affinity for the hERG ion channel (IC50 > 30 μM). Additionally, BI 653048 phosphate serves as a HCV NS3 protease inhibitor, making it relevant for research in antiviral therapies targeting hepatitis C virus infections.
