Biguanide

Antihyperglycemic Agent

Biguanide is an orally active antihyperglycemic agent primarily targeting mitochondrial ATP production. It functions by inhibiting mitochondrial function, thereby activating the LKB1-AMPK signaling pathway and disrupting energy homeostasis. Biguanide enhances insulin receptor activation and downstream signaling, making it a potential therapeutic option for managing type 2 diabetes and insulin-associated cancers. This compound is valuable for research focused on metabolic disorders and cancer biology.
