BKN-1

Antineoplastic Agent

BKN-1 is an antineoplastic agent that functions as a bifunctional ligand, capable of both tracking the formation of mitochondrial G-quadruplexes through far-red emission and inducing mitochondrial dysfunction. This compound exhibits significant anti-tumor activity by promoting mtDNA loss, compromising mitochondrial integrity, decreasing ATP levels, and disrupting reactive oxygen species balance. These actions ultimately lead to apoptosis and autophagy, making BKN-1 a valuable tool for research in cancer biology and mitochondrial dynamics.
