Metalloporphyrin

BMX-001 is a redox-active metalloporphyrin that targets islet cell function, improving engraftment and viability in murine transplant models. This compound demonstrates a significant reduction in apoptosis in both human and murine islets, while enhancing static-glucose stimulated insulin secretion (sGSIS). Additionally, BMX-001 effectively restores euglycemia in murine studies involving manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) and decreases reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation during islet isolation and culture. Its applications extend to metabolic research and transplantation studies, making it a valuable tool for investigating islet cell health and diabetes management.
